Alvar Aalto

Alvar Aalto (1988-1976) is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in modern architecture and design.  He thought that a design object must complement everything in our lives and homes, survive daily wear and tear as well as trends, across cultures and generations.  Above all, he believed that design must make us feel at home being human. 

Alvar Alto's vase design caused waves when Iittala presented the vases at the Paris world exhibition in 1937.  Aalto simplified design elements to result in millions of combinations that let the end user decide the use.
