Timo Sarpaneva

Professor Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006). Born in Helsinki, Sarpaneva was one of the great designers responsible for the world reputation of Finnish design since the 1950's.  He has long been one of Finnish design's most prominent figures worldwide.  In addition to time-less, stylistically-subdued utility glass, he is also known for his impressive and ambitious unique work.

He was a master of materials such as glass, porcelain, cast iron and textile as well as graphic art.  He has been honored with innumerable awards and his work can be seen in art and design museums all over the world.
